The “German TT” was also in 2007 a real challenge. Since 1923 this oldest german “natural” racetrack gives an extra thrill for any enaged racer.
Only a part of the track is permanent racetrack, the most parts are public countryroads, who are blocked for the weekend to form that traditional “Schleizer Dreieck” - an triangle course.
The Hillbilly-Motors Raceteam travelled to this, in the former GDR located track, together with Tommy Schuler our rider and the Buell “Thors Hammer” Racebike powered by a 1200cc Shortstroke Attack M-TeK engine builded by Alex Kucis.
Last year we finished on a difficult weekend third with the backupengine. Main problem for us was, that we did not found enough tracktime to work out a proper rainsetup. So we had to let the competitors go, happy to finish on the podium.
This year we had after the first session the clear feeling that this might be our weekend. The bike was running great, and after he first timesession we got the confirmation, Poleposition for the Thunder B.E.A.R.S classement and quickest laps over also the higher classes Super B.E.A.R.S and Classic Superbikes who join our timesession.
At the second timesession our old problem, with bad throttle response at hot engine, came back and we were not able to get a better time, The competitors also not, so our pole was safe...
We rejetted our twincarb setup and changed the exhaust for the next morning warmup session and took a couple of beers.
Next morning, long faces, the bike was very difficult to ride, the problem from the past day getting bigger...
Okay, we had a lot of time because our race was at 5.00 at the afternoon. So we changed again all ignitioncomponents, mounted “on the fly” other coils and we done anything what camed in our mind to get control over that problem.
Dark clouds came up on the afternoon and we remember 2006 were we had a wetrace, but no proper setup. As the Classic Superbikes has their race thunder an lightning let the officials stop the race after the first laps. As the sesult our race moved 1h and the Classic Superbikes got a restart with us and the Super B.E.A.R.S.
We waited till the last minutes with our decission wet or dry tyres, because our photographers reported dry condition from the lower part of the track. But than the rain gettin heavier and we go out on Bridgestome raintyres.
That was the right way, Tommy Schuler win the race and got also the fastest lap over all three classes. A great victory after a hard working weekend.
Big smile at all Teammembers from the Hillbilly-Motors by Götz Raceteam powered by M-TeK Engineering. Congratulations to Tommy Schuler, who always fight hard.
Thanks too all our sponsors and all this people in- and outside the Team who made this victory happend.
We looking forward now on the next race from 22.-24. June at the Festival Italia on the Oschersleben Racetrack.
